Sackville’s two pharmacies offer flu shots by appointment this season, free of charge.

The pharmacist of the Corner Drug Store, Ian Taylor, says he and his staff were “busy from the get-go” this year.

He says that many patients were getting the flu shot for the very first time.

The Corner Drug Store is booked solid until the next shipment of vaccines arrive from the province, which Taylor hopes will be early next week.

Taylor assures patients that while the appointments are booked on a first come, first served basis, there may be some flexibility for those who are particularly vulnerable.

Those who are over 65, immunocompromised, or have a pre-existing condition/chronic illness (ex. Diabetes, HIV) can seek accommodation with the pharmacy staff over the phone.

Owner of the Sackville Jean Coutu Aaron Lloyd says that appointments are now being booked towards the end of November.

The wait time, Lloyd explains, is “to limit the amount of people in the store at one time.”

The pharmacy can see maximum two people from the same household bubble every 30 minutes, depending on how many pharmacists are on staff.

Lloyd says that the Sackville Jean Coutu administered over five times the amount of flu shots this October compared to October of 2019.

In fact, the pharmacy provided more flu shots in October 2020 than it did all of last year’s flu season.

Appointments can be made online or over the phone at The Corner Drug Store (506) 536-2255 or Jean Coutu (506) 536-0230.

Mount Allison students with a New Brunswick Medicare card were eligible for a free flu shot at the Mount A Athletics Centre.

Vaccinations took place October 27th and 28th.

The Meighan Centre announced a third clinic that will be held on October 30th.

Those who pre-registered will be contacted with an appointment time.

If you pre-registered for a flu shot but have not been contacted, get in touch via wellness@mta.ca.

The clinic saw approximately 190 people, mostly students, on the 27th. Estimates for the clinic on the 28th are still being calculated.
