Self-reported cases of COVID-19 continue to rise at Mount Allison University.

There are currently 61 active cases in the university community, Mount A reported on Tuesday.

That includes 29 cases off-campus and 32 in residence.

Those figures represent almost double the cases reported last week, when the number of self-reported active cases stood at 33.

On Tuesday, the university said on its website: “We are still seeing increased case counts in our community – therefore it is imperative that we all continue to follow these established COVID-19 measures to slow and stop the spread of infection.”

The university advised members of the community to “[b]ehave like COVID is present wherever you are – remain diligent and continue to monitor for symptoms.”

Mount Allison has now recorded a total of 276 self-reported cases since January 3, with an overall increase of 102 cases compared to last week.

The new figures follow the provincial government’s decision to lift all remaining COVID-19 mandatory measures on Monday.

The university has said it will keep most of its COVID-19 health and safety measures in place on campus until the end of April.
