Community Media Internships (Summer 2025)



CHMA, in partnership with Mount Allison University, is very excited to  offer 2 paid internship for students attending Mount Allison University. CHMA plays an essential role in local news and independent culture at Mount Allison University and in the Sackville Area. We are offering this internship to help gain exciting, hands-on, real-world experience working in broadcast media, audio production, research, content creation, and the operations of a non-profit arts organization. 

Community Media is constantly changing and we strive to maintain a connection with our community. Radio is our primary medium, but many of our projects include social media, video, podcasting, live stream, digital publishing and audio production. We’re interested in engaging with you to develop your skills, whether it’s digital literacy, public presentation, research, or production and in return we ask that you contribute to our broadcast and day-to-day activities.


~You will play an integral role in the day-to-day functions of CHMA in our collaborative work environment.

~You are invited to contribute to programming, audio production, broadcasting, and journalism through both our on-air broadcasting and online platforms. 

~You agree to produce content each week that contributes to our on-air broadcast and/or online distribution platforms.

~You will be expected to attend our weekly staff meetings and our monthly board meetings.

~As a Intern, you will work with our staff and volunteers to further our mandate of informing and entertaining our community to meet the diverse needs of the communities of Westmoreland and Cumberland counties, NB & NS.

~ This position is available to current, full-time, returning students of Mount Allison University. It is a paid position of $17.30/hr with an expected work week of 35 hours per week for 14 weeks starting in May 2025.

Please note “International” if you are applying for the International internship.

No experience is expected but the ideal candidate will have an interest in community building through media, a creative mindset, the ability to multitask, and to work independently as well as collaboratively. Past volunteer experience and community involvement is valued.

CHMA, Attic Broadcasting, is a non-profit independent local news, media, and broadcasting organization dedicated to keeping our community informed and entertained with local news, stories, interviews and diverse programming in various media.
