On today’s show, The Cackling Goose will see its last customers this Saturday after nearly 18 years in business at 38 York Street in Sackville. But before they go, owners Mark Istvanffy and Amanda Feindel are looking for a new home for a very special piece of their shop furniture:  a 16 foot long oak store counter that originated from Goodwin’s General Store in Baie Verte. We talk to Istvanffy about his hopes for the historic counter, and what’s next for the historic building at 38 York Street.

Plus in news briefs:

  • About 25 residents at a public meeting on the proposed new Rogers cell tower for 14 Crescent Street heard that the location has been in the works for years.
  • Tantramar council has passed a slew of motions including a new Silver Lake canoe and kayak rental agreement, a three year agreement to provide a downtown home for the Ice Cream Coop, and street closures to make way for Walk A Mile for Sarah’s Smile, the Friday Night Cruise, and Sappyfest 2025.
