The biggest jump was in the Saint John region, where 18 new cases were reported. Most of those cases where found as a result of follow-up testing for the outbreak at the Parkland Saint John Complex. 11 residents and four staff members at Tucker Hall have tested positive for COVID-19.

There were three new cases in the Fredericton and Campbellton regions, and one new case in the Edmundston region.

The only health region currently without any active cases of COVID-19 is zone 7, the Mirimachi region.

All of New Brunswick remains on the orange level of restrictions.

TESTING NUMBERS RISING AGAIN

The province reported 790 new test results Wednesday, with 204 of those in Zone 1, the southeast region.

Chief Medical Officer of Health Jennifer Russell has encouraged New Brunswickers to get tested even with mild symptoms, as testing levels had dropped over the holidays.

The numbers show a dip in testing numbers both on the weekend following Christmas, and the weekend following New Year’s. Numbers are now climbing back up.

During the last orange phase, the 7-day-average for testing numbers climbed to about 1400 per day.

The province also issued another potential exposure advisory, this time for a flight into Moncton.

VACCINATIONS UDPATE

In vaccination news, the province says it will have administered almost all of its available vaccine doses by Monday January 11.

As of Wednesday, New Brunswick has received 11,175 doses of vaccine.

The province will hold back enough doses to administer second doses to everyone vaccinated by Monday.

The province says vaccination clinics will be set-up around the province as the supply of vaccine increases in the coming weeks and months.
