Another Sackville case: Mt A employee tests positive for COVID-19

An employee at Mount Allison University has tested positive for COVID-19 and is self-isolating at home. Vice-President of Finance and Administration, Robert Inglis, informed staff and students by email Monday afternoon.

Inglis says Public Health has conducted contact tracing, and determined there were no close contacts among co-workers, and the risk to the community is considered low. All employees in the affected department will be working remotely for the time being. Mask rules at the school will be tightened slightly to require masks in small group meetings and in the R.P. Bell and Music libraries. Currently masks are required inside on campus, unless people are working distant from others.

Since Public Health offices do not identify their phone numbers, the university is reminding people to answer calls coming from ‘no caller ID’ numbers. If you are not contacted by Public Health directly, you do not need to take any additional precautions.

“We wish the individual who is ill a quick and full recovery and know that everyone in our community will continue to be compassionate, caring, and supportive,” concludes Inglis’ email.

Sunday night both TRHS and Port Elgin Regional School announced cases of COVID-19 in their respective school communities, and the Drew Nursing Home currently has 10 reported cased of COVID-19. An update from New Brunswick Public Health is scheduled for 2:30pm today.
