Art Pays Me: Duane Jones is advocating for creative empowerment

Recognized among the elite 2021 class of Most Inspiring Immigrants in the Maritimes, Duane Jones is the founder of the clothing/lifestyle brand and podcast, Art Pays Me. Born in Bermuda, based in Halifax, NS since 2000, his initiative seeks to motivate artists to embrace their strengths and achieve financial and creative empowerment.

“[I wanted to] show that you can be an artist, stay true to your creative vision while making a comfortable living for yourself. You don’t have to separate those two things.”

~ Duane Jones on starting Art Pays Me

Host of the Morning Show, Joe Hubley sat down with Duane Jones for a very insightful conversation about how he started his own brand, Art Pays Me. Duane spoke about the frustration he felt as a young artist over how creative people are viewed in business settings. He was also generous enough to impart some extremely valuable advice to young artists who are feeling undervalued in their respective communities. Duane Jones and Joe Hubley cover all this and more in this CHMA exclusive interview.
