After much build up, Bagtown Brewing Company and Pi By Crow are launching their joint patio today (August 13th) at noon.

Folks will be able to enjoy a cold beer and a warm hand pie while socially distanced on their new benches.

Signage with COVID-19 protocols is displayed at the front of the shop, highlighting the safety measures required.

M: Can you just tell me for anyone who hasn’t heard about it yet about your new business venture?

R: Yes. So, my business Pi By Crow foods up here in Sackville uptown bag town is co partnering with Bagtown Brewing Company with a pie and beer garden which is going to be opening tomorrow at noon as our initial launch at noon to eight o’clock. So basically it’s a nice little outdoor garden area in an old parking lot which has been converted into the space for our customers to come and enjoy lunch or dinner with some beer pints, sodas, whatever. In an outdoor environment with all the COVID protocols in place.

M: I just saw that you or Anthony released a video. There’s signage available and you have some pretty extensive markings on the floor it looks like as well.

R: You know, the protocols are for everybody’s safety, we want people to really feel safe and enjoy the space. When they come to visit, visit us. You know, we’re doing contact tracing, sanitizing, lots of very clear signage, you know what to do at the tables, how to register your guests, that sort of thing. You know, we don’t want to, we don’t want to take it lightly. We really want people to feel, you know that this is a space that they can go to and enjoy themselves and have a good time with some of their friends and family.

M: Great. Do you have any staff on at the moment or will it just be you and Anthony working that eight hour opening?

R: Yeah, no, Anthony has a summer student. I’m solo right now. Just because of my scenario in the shop here but yeah, for now. It’s just the three of us that are gonna run this thing down.

M: Okay, that’s a long day.

R: It is.

M: Do you have any special menu items you’re putting up for the opening tomorrow?

R: No, we’re just gonna make sure you know I know that Anthony’s got a good load of different selections of beers and ciders, etc. As for the pie shop will have a selection of vegetarian and omnivore choices and obviously hand pies and burritos. We’ll expand it a little bit as we get a little further into it and see what the demographics of everything’s going to be and how it’s going to work. I’m sure we’re gonna run into a few hiccups along the way but yet we’re just we’re ready to go and anxious to have something new for Sackville to enjoy. So yeah, we’re pretty we’re pretty excited about it, Anthony and I.

M: Are you anticipating a crowd tomorrow, tomorrow? Are you able to generate an estimate about that on Facebook or anything?
R: I personally haven’t been checking in because I’ve been too busy cooking. But you know, I don’t know what the numbers look like. I actually have been asked on the event page to see what was what was coming in. But you know, the weather’s looking good for tomorrow. Thursday’s generally are a pretty busy day for us up here. So we’re hoping that we can, you know, get a few folks before they head out to the cottages and the shore on the weekend and have a nice little get together before they leave Sackville for the weekend. And then of course we’re hoping to as well get folks that are visiting as well that come into Sackville that they could check out the local craft brewery and the hand pie shop. The other thing we’re doing as well is Anthony and I have that space so we can actually book events as well. We’ll be doing the Shinerama garden party in a couple of weeks. So it’s just another alternative for people that they can get their group together and use a nice private space. You know and have a catered and have a fully licensed beer garden.

M: Is there anything else that you want listeners to know about the event tomorrow?

R: Yeah, come on by, you know, I mean, I’ve had lots of positive feedback here at my takeout window people excited for it. We’re happy to see people have a place where they can go and just relax a little bit that, you know, they’re outdoors eating outdoors having a beer. And I think more people are feeling a little more comfortable about that as we sort of ensure a way along this new COVID path that we’re in. So, yes, come on out. We’ll be happy to see it for sure.

Check out 45 Main Street in Sackville today to participate.
