On today’s show, in the wake of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s announcement that he will step down, we talk with Mount Allison University politics professor Mario Levesque about what a federal Liberal leadership race could mean for the Tantramar region, including the possibility that Beauséjour MP Dominic LeBlanc could throw his hat in the ring. Levesque says it’s “buyer beware” for the top job of the governing party, since the country will see a federal election sometime before October 2025, and possibly as early as May.

Plus in briefs,

  • The Mount Allison Faculty Association donated to 15 local charities and organizations over the holiday season including the Sackville Memorial Hospital Foundation, Tantramar Heritage Trust, South East Adult Education and the 3006 Dieppe Army Cadets, among others.
  • A record number of 89 people showed up to take an icy dip on New Year’s Day in Dorchester this year, raising $2500 for the Moving Forward Cooperative and Dorchester fire services.
