Our Morning Show starts up at 7:30am. It’s very important that there’s a voice present at this time otherwise the listener will assume you’re not showing up.
Each of the segments below will assume that you’ll introduce the song that just finished playing and then the next song (or two) that are coming up next.
1. Organize the rotation. The Classical selection before may need a few extra pieces to get the time to 7:30am on the nose. Any selections from Classical C or Classical NC will do. You’ll then want to scan the first 30 minutes to determine what you’d like to play. Generally the selections are ok as populated, but you can do better.
2. Introduction. At 7:30am on the dot give the listener a “Good Morning!” and announce the time and the tracks that are coming up. Give a little banter of what they can expect in the next hour. 2-3 minutes tops.
3. Weather Update. Jump back in after the first song and give a weather update from Environment Canada. Thsi can be a long form 7 day update. 2-3 minutes.
4. Tantramar Social Media Update. This is good because this is the best place for road closures, special occasions and community wide announcements. After the second song, jump back in a announce anything new that’s been updated to the Tantramar Municipality Facebook page, 2-3 of the most recent posts. 3-4 minutes.
5. Local Announcements. Move along to the chmafm.com Community Events Calendar and read off 2-3 events.
6. Local Announcements #2: This should be around 5-6 minutes before 8am. Announce 1 or 2 events and let the listener know what to expect after 8am: Tantramar Report (if it’s not Monday), Atlantic Update, Weather, Local Announcements, the Sports Update at 8:30am and some of the music to expect.
7. Once complete the first 30 minutes, you want to compile the Atlantic Update. Go to the gmail account or CP Pro site and get the most recent newswire. Copy the text. Log in to chmafm.com, create a new post, paste and categorize as “newswire.” Before posting, edit the newswire so that it has the New Brunswick stories at the beginning and has a select for each of the provinces. It’s typically very “Halifax”. Try to represent other aspects, if possible. Refer to the other days newswire posts as well, if needed. Also note if any of the news mentioned time marks. Feel feel to fix those to read from the day. Publish! It’s a little easier to read/record from the published version, but do what works best for you.
8. Recording the post-8am AU news. Delete the previous days Tantramar Report (9004) and the Weather (9000). There are 2 Station ID’s that population after 8am. Record into the AU the second Station ID. Record the Post-8am Weather after another Station ID. Feel free to replace the populated Local Announcements with something relavant to the day.
Here’s a quick rundown: 8am Daypart >> Tantramar Report >> Station ID >> Atlantic Update >> Station ID >> Local Announcement #1 >> Local Announcement #2 >> Show Promo #1 >> intro to next 2 songs >> Song #1 >> Song #2 >> Announce Song #2 and Introduce Songs #3 and #4…
9. The Sports Update happens in person, in real time, at the station. Be ready for when Brian comes in. You’ll need to have Garageband open and Myriad in the live on-air session. You’re expected to be there, ready to record at 8:30am. Brian only needs a few minutes to prep, but just be ready. Start recording on Garageband at any point. Once the Sports Update segment is done it will need to be edited. Remove everything before and after, including Brians saying “and this is your Sports Update…” and ” that was you Sports Update….” Leave 1 second of silence before and 2 seconds of silence after. Export to the Documents folder. Import into Myriad Media Item 9016. Once Imported, you’re done! Save the Garageband file in case there was a bad edit that you might need to fix after.
10. Feel feel to introduce the rest of the set, update on todays Programming coming up on CHMA, and sign off around 8:50am, being sure to give some love to the 9am host.
