Council hears about Squire Street speed hump petition and unbudgeted water plant fix

On today’s show, we take a look at some of the topics for discussion at Monday’s Tantramar council committee of the whole meeting. Council heard about a petition filed by some residents of Squire Street in Sackville, who are asking the municipality to install speed bumps to slow down traffic on the residential street.

And public works manager Jon Eppell told council that three water pumps which push untreated water through the filtration system at the water treatment plant are underperforming, and putting the town at risk of potential shortages in Sackville’s treated water supply. The plan to either refurbish or replace one of the pumps will eat into the reserve fund meant to eventually upgrade Sackville’s sewage lagoons.
