Just over six months after the position became vacant, Sackville town council has hired a new Senior Manager of Corporate Projects.
Councillors approved the appointment of Mount Allison grad and current Fredericton city planner Kieran Miller at their meeting last night.
Miller will join the town’s senior management team on November 16, 2020, taking over CAO Jamie Burke’s old job.
Back in June, Jamie Burke told CHMA that the Senior Manager Corporate Projects has a bit of a jack-of-all-trades role.
“I guess the best way I’ve described it is, anything that’s not finance or engineering kind of falls into this corner of the shop,” he said.
Miller will work with Ron Kelly Spurles and Matt Pryde on tourism and business development or recreation programs and events.
She will also be responsible for town communications, and share responsibility for economic development along with the CAO.
According to her LinkedIn profile, Miller has experience in development services and public consultation activities. She participated in the development of Fredericton’s Municipal Plan review, and serves on several committees, including the Cycling Working Group, Environmental Leadership Team and Wellness Fredericton.
In a press release from the Town of Sackville, Jamie Burke says, “I’m very pleased to have such a competent candidate joining our team. Kieran is a natural collaborator and her experience with project management and public engagement will be a significant asset to our organization.”
The release says Miller was born and raised in St. John’s, Newfoundland, and has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Mount Allison University and a Masters of Planning degree from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario.
She’s also an avid rugby player, formerly serving as assistant coach for the University of New Brunswick Women’s Rugby Team.
“We look forward to welcoming Kieran, and her dogs Darby and River, to Sackville,” reads the release.
