New Brunswick Public Health reported 23 new cases of COVID-19 on Saturday afternoon.

There are six new cases in Zone 1, the southeast region, which includes Sackville and Tantramar.

One person in their 60’s, three people in their thirties, one in their 20’s, and one under 19 have been diagnosed with the disease.

The southeast region now has 32 active cases of COVID-19.

The Saint John region has 16 new cases, more than doubling its total active case count in a single day. The Fredericton region has one new case.

All cases are self-isolating and under investigation.

POTENTIAL FLIGHT EXPOSURE ADVISORY

One of Saturday’s cases was in a traveller who may have been infectious while travelling on November 7, 2020, says Public Health. They have issued an advisory for the following flights:

  • Air Canada Flight 0992 – from Mexico City to Toronto arrived at 7:20 p.m.
  • Air Canada Flight 8918 – from Toronto to Moncton arrived at 11:43 p.m.

Anyone on one of these flights is asked to monitor for symptoms and call 811 if any develop.

Public Health does not issue a public advisory for every potential COVID-19 exposure, just those they have not been able to contact trace completely. Normally, officials contact all individuals listed in contact tracing records directly, and do not issue a separate advisory. In cases where tracers are not certain exactly who may have been exposed to the virus, Public Health issues a public announcement in an effort to reach anyone who could have been affected.

TRAVEL ADVISORY ISSUED FOR HALIFAX, ZONE 1, ZONE 2

On Saturday, NB Public Health also issued a travel advisory for anyone coming into New Brunswick from the Halifax area, and also to anyone travelling in and out of Zones 1 and 2 inside New Brunswick.

Similar to advisories issued for potential public exposures, travellers are being asked to monitor for symptoms for 14 days after their travel, and call 811 if any symptoms develop.

Nova Scotia public health announced community transmission cases in the Halifax area earlier this week.

Both orange level zones, the southeast and Saint John regions, are also under an essential travel only advisory. People can still travel in and out of these regions for work, school, essential errands and medical appointments.
