New Brunswick Public Health reported 9 new cases in the province yesterday, with 5 of those cases in Zone 1, the southeast region which includes Sackville and Tantramar. The other cases are in Saint John, Fredericton and Bathurst regions.
The new cases continue the uptick in case numbers over the past week.
All of the new cases are under investigation, according to a government news release.
Out of 40 active cases in New Brunswick, just over half are in Zone 1, the southeast region.
On it COVID-19 Dashboard, the province lists 31 cases as under investigation, which means contact tracing has not been completed.
On Tuesday, Chief Medical Officer of Health Jennifer Russell told CHMA there is no confirmed community transmission so far.
However, the province’s dashboard shows an increase in the number of cases deemed as community transmission yesterday, from 13 to 14 cases.
The daily provincial news release said nothing about this increase in community transmission cases, and the department of health has yet to respond to CHMA’s enquiry about the statistical change.
NEW FLIGHT ADVISORY ISSUED
Public Health has also released another potential exposure advisory, this time for a flight arriving in Moncton from Toronto on November 15.
Anyone on Air Canada Flight 8918 – from Toronto to Moncton arriving late Sunday night should self-monitor for two weeks after the flight, says public health.
ELSEWHERE IN CANADA…
Nova Scotia reported three new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday. Community transmission has been acknowledged in the province, with 7 cases recently deemed as coming from unknown, local sources. There are 24 active cases of COVID-19 in Nova Scotia as of Wednesday.
PEI has just three active cases of COVID-19, and Newfoundland and Labrador has nine active cases, with two new cases announced yesterday.
Across Canada, there are nearly 52,000 active cases of COVID-19 reported, with 4600 new cases announced yesterday.
