Grieving community members met for a memorial walk in Dorchester on Monday to celebrate the life of 13-year-old girl Hailey Pierce.

She died after she was hospitalized for injuries sustained when she fell from a moving school bus on Woodlawn Road in Dorchester on Tuesday, April 12.

About $14,770 had been raised by Tuesday morning through a GoFundMe for the family of Hailey Pierce, to lay Hailey to rest.

The online fundraiser stated that she had just turned thirteen.

It also said, in part: “Throughout her life, Hailey was stubborn, sweet, sassy, loving and deeply caring. Her most treasured possession, her brother, was blessed to have such an amazingly supportive big sister. In life beyond death, Hailey continues to help those around her by being an organ doner. Though we have lost her, she will continue to live on in our hearts, and those who will have the life saving and changing organs they need.”
