Elections NB has mailed out more than 500,000 voter cards, advising New Brunswickers when and where they can vote in the September 14th provincial general election.
Chief Electoral Officer Kim Poffenroth is encouraging voters to bring their voter information cards with them to polling stations, to help speed up the process and reduce the amount of time the voters have to spend inside the polling stations.
The agency warns that while an extensive update of voter information was conducted earlier in August, some revisions were not received in time to correct the cards.
But, they say the information on where and when to vote is still valid.
Voters without a card will be directed to a special team at each polling station that will ensure the individual is on the voters list or add the person to the list, if necessary.
Sackville’s election day polling station will be at the Tantramar Civic Centre, and advance polling stations will be open on September 5th and 8th at the Middle Sackville Baptist Church.
All the candidates are in for the riding of Memramcook-Tantramar.
Carole Duguay is running for the Progressive Conservative Party;
Maxime Bourgeois, for the Liberal Party;
and Megan Mitton, the incumbent, is running for the Green Party.
New to the slate are:
Heathere Collins, running for the People’s Alliance of New Brunswick, and Jefferson George Wright, running as an independent candidate.
Tomorrow we’ll bring you Bruce Wark’s interview with independent candidate Jefferson George Wright.
