On today’s show, residents have until the end of the day to weigh in on a proposed new Rogers cell tower for 14 Crescent Street in Sackville.
On Monday, Mayor Andrew Black sent a letter to Rogers expressing “firm opposition” to construction of the 65-metre tower at the proposed location, across from Armtec Pipe Supply and beside the FRS Flooring warehouse. CHMA asked Black about the reasons for that opposition, and the role of the municipality in the siting process, which is federally regulated.
“There hasn’t been a direct conversation with Rogers about where that tower would be,” says Black. “It was only within the last week and a half where I thought, well, you know, we really should do something about this, because the outcry seemed to be escalating.”
Members of the public can provide feedback to Rogers about the siting through an agent, Scott Telecom Services, at contact information below. The deadline for feedback is by end of day February 26, 2025.
