On today’s show, a new non-profit housing cooperative with plans for affordable and barrier-free units has submitted a major funding application to the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation, and is now putting out a call to anyone interested in joining the list of potential members. The Freshwinds Eco-Village Housing Co-operative plans to build a 63-unit community at its 21 acre property behind 64 Fairfield Road in Sackville. Freshwinds co-chairs Sabine Dietz and Eric Tusz-King share more details about the project, including what’s involved in living in a housing co-op.
Plus in other local news: Green party leader David Coon joined Tantramar candidate Megan Mitton in Sackville on Monday to announce the Green plan for health care, which includes increasing salaries to match neighbouring provinces, and decentralizing the management of hospitals.
And Tantramar council meets tonight at 7pm at the Tantramar municipal office on Main Street in Sackville. On the agenda is the proposal to increase to the height limit for Sackville’s downtown, mixed use zone, and the first reading of a controversial rezoning of a property on York Street owned by Beale and Inch construction.
