This means being able to sustain your survival, pending no life threatening emergencies or unforeseen hazards, for a minimum of 72 hours in power outages or blocked road access. Stock up on medications, fresh water, non perishable foods. Remove/secure all outdoor structures. Keep generators away from air intake systems. Clean and prepare your basement for possible flooding, bringing electrical items off the floor. Check for proper function of sump pumps.
