‘Increase in COVID-19 cases’ leads to weekend closure of Sackville Hospital emergency department

The Sackville Hospital emergency department will be closed this weekend, from 4pm Friday until 8am Monday, July 11.

Horizon made the announcement late this morning along with announced overnight closures of the emergency department at the Sussex Health Centre for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights.

Horizon says the closure is due to nursing and physician shortages caused by an increase in COVID-19 cases.

The most recent report on COVID-19 from Horizon says that 100 staff are currently absent and have a positive PCR or rapid test for COVID-19.
