CHMA talks with Mount Allison politics professor Mario Levesque about the appointment of Beauséjour MP Dominic LeBlanc as minister of finance, replacing former Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland who resigned suddenly on Monday.
Levesque says LeBlanc is, “probably the most loyal member of the Liberal MPs that there is right now to the prime minister, and he will do whatever is asked of him by him.”
But LeBlanc’s tenure as finance minister, and also minister of intergovernmental affairs and public safety, will likely be shortlived, due to the situation faced now by the Liberal party and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. Levesque weighs in on the options, and LeBlanc’s future in politics.
