Joel Plaskett revisits ‘Down at the Khyber’; speaks on future plans after ’44’

Whether he’s playing solo or fronting one of his critically acclaimed rock bands (The Emergency, Thrush Hermit), Joel Plaskett boasts one of the most celebrated discographies in Canadian music. Although his career has taken him all across the world, Joel has always worn his hometown of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia proudly on his sleeve. With his remarkable career, Joel has played a major role in cultivating the ground for the fruitful music scene that now thrives here in the Maritimes.

His latest release, 20 Years Gone, is a revisit to Joel Plaskett Emergency’s renowned debut album; Down at the Khyber from 2001. His latest solo release, 44, was released in 2020. An ambitious effort, the album features 44 brilliant and eclectic new tracks. The album flows beautifully, strung together by Plaskett’s signature delivery which we all know and love. Host of the Morning Show, Joe Hubley sits down with Joel Plaskett to cover all this and more in this CHMA exclusive interview.
