New Brunswick and P-E-I are among the Atlantic provinces marking Francophonie Month.
They’re among 93 members and governments of the International Organization of La Francophonie.
The organization promotes the benefits associated with the French language.

Former P-E-I premier Dennis King is Canada’s new ambassador to Ireland.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s office announced the appointment today, after King’s abrupt resignation as premier last month.
The 53-year-old said at the time the decision was in the best interests of his family, the government and P-E-I residents.
Trudeau says he’s confident King’s years of public service will make the strong partnership between Canada and Ireland even stronger. (The Canadian Press)

(NB-Sunnyside-Breach-Shots)
Police in central New Brunswick are asking for the public’s help as they investigate a report of shots fired at a home in Sunnyside Beach.
The R-C-M-P in Minto say they were told a resident was inside the home just after midnight Friday night when shots rang out.
The resident was not injured and police believe this was an isolated incident.
The resident told police they saw a white S-U-V leaving are area northbound on Route 690.

(NS-Pharmacare-Deal)
A non-profit agency is calling on the Nova Scotia government to sign a federal pharmacare deal.
Wellness Within says Premier Tim Houston’s government should sign the agreement to help residents struggling with affordability.
Chairwoman Natasha Hines says Nova Scotians are dealing with rising rates of gender-based violence and inflation, and she says a pharmacare deal would be an important tool to address both.
Manitoba is so far the only province to sign such a deal with Ottawa.

(NL-Gas-Diesel-Tax)
Newfoundland and Labrador is extending its gasoline and diesel tax reduction until next year.
The reduction of seven cents per litre will stay in place until March 31st 2026.
Deputy Premier and Finance Minister Siobhan (shuh-VON’) Coady also says the province will continue with its 50 per cent reduction in passenger vehicle registration costs.
She also says the home heating supplement program will continue. (The Canadian Press)

(NL-Impaired-Drivers)
Two men and a teenage boy were arrested this weekend in separate incidents of impaired driving.
The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary says the drivers were arrested on Newfoundland’s west coast.
They say a 17-year-old Corner Brook boy and a 25-year-old St. John’s man were stopped overnight Sunday, the latter after a vehicle crashed into a snowbank, while a 57-year-old Pasadena man was pulled over just after noon.
