Memramcook gets $10M from feds for rec centre and water extension; Tantramar cautious about housing coop support

On today’s show, the village of Memramcook has announced $10.1 million in federal funding for some major infrastructure projects in the next two years, including an $8.2 million water service extension project and a $13.5 million recreation centre project.

Current Beauséjour candidate, and then-MP Dominic LeBlanc made the funding announcement with Memramcook mayor Maxime Bourgeois on March 21, just days before the writ was issued to kick off the 2025 federal election. We talk to Bourgeois to find out more about the projects.

Plus, at their next meeting Tuesday evening, Tantramar council will consider whether or not to support a new cooperative housing project on Fairfield Road, by applying to the Canada Housing Infrastructure Fund (CHIF) as a municipal partner. A staff report makes no recommendation, but highlights concerns about taking on the CHIF application to support the Freshwinds Eco-village Housing Cooperative project.
