Three new faces will join Sackville town council: Matt Estabrooks, Kenneth Hicks, and Sabine Dietz
The (unofficial) results are in. Shawn Mesheau is the new mayor-elect of Sackville.

According to the Elections NB unofficial results website, Mesheau won the mayoralty contest with 1067 votes. That’s 52.8% of the ballots cast (2020), and 22% of eligible voters (4852).
Ron Aiken received 858 votes, or 42.5% of ballots cast, and 17.7% of eligible voters.
All five of the incumbent council candidates won their seats for another term, including Andrew Black, Allison Butcher, Micheal Tower, Bruce Phinney and Bill Evans. Three new candidates won seats, including Matt Estabrooks, Kenneth Hicks, and Sabine Dietz.
2020 ballots were cast in Sackville, out of a possible 4852 eligible voters. 41.6% of eligible voters cast a ballot, which is a significant drop from the 2016 elections, in which 46.83% of eligible Sackville voters cast a ballot. Province-wide for all contests, turnout was 30.35%, down from 2016, when it was 32.9%.
INCUMBENTS SWEEP RHA AND DEC
Incumbents also took the day in both the Regional Health Authority and District Education Council contests.
Michelle Folkins of Dorchester will remain as the Tantramar representative on the Anglophone East District Council after taking 35% of votes cast. Challenger Brian Neilson took 21.5% of ballots cast. The turnout in the Tantramar subdistrict was relatively high with 39.24% of eligible voters casting a ballot (4817 ballots out of a possible 12,277).
For RHA, Pauline Gallant of Saint-Louis-de-Kent took 45.9% of ballots cast, with Sackville local Laura Reinsborough taking 43.4%. The turnout for RHA elections are much lower than that for DEC or town council. Only 19.08% of eligible voters cast a ballot in this district for Horizon RHA elections (7042 ballots out of a possible 36,902).
