Using math to help fight the spread of the new coronavirus

Dr. Matthew Betti is an assistant professor in Mathematics and Computer Science at Mount Allison University and part of a national team helping to build model frameworks for potential COVID-19 scenarios in Canada.

Betti is working on models to help predict the needs for personal protective equipment, or PPE as it now commonly known.

CHMA news reporter Erica Butler called him up to ask about his work, and the challenges of modelling and making predictions for how the new coronavirus will play out in Canada. Betti also talked about the important role of testing in the battle against the spread.
