Rogers is proposing to erect a new 65 meter tall cell tower in Sackville, and members of the public have until February 26 to weigh in on the matter.
The tower is proposed for 14 Crescent Street, across from Armtec pipe supply and beside an existing warehouse building. The company says it has delivered information packages to all residents within 195 metres of the site, according to Canada’s Antenna Tower Siting Policy. That includes some residential homes at the end of Beal Heights, a cul de sac on the hill accessible from Charles Street.
Rogers also placed an ad in the Moncton Times Transcript on January 9, 2025 to announce the proposed telecommunications tower.
CHMA requested a copy of the information package distributed to residents within the 195 metre notification radius, but Rogers declined. The company did share a map showing the proposed location of the tower, and an emailed statement which says Rogers is “looking to enhance our network in Sackville to provide more seamless coverage for residents, businesses and emergency responders.”
Rogers is following the default public consultation process required by Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada, because Tantramar’s land use authority, Plan 360, does not have its own consultation process for telecommunications towers.
The company is also required to submit its plans directly to Tantramar council. CHMA has reached out to Mayor Andrew Black to find out what kind of process council will follow with the proposal
Members of the public can provide feedback to Rogers about the siting through an agent, Scott Telecom Services, as per the information below. The deadline for feedback has been extended from February 7, 2025 to February 26, 2025.
