Mount Allison students who arrived from outside of Canada will be tested for COVID-19 today and tomorrow.
Mount Allison director of marketing & communications Robert Hiscock informed students of the new testing policy change in an email late Friday afternoon.
The email says the new requirement comes via a recent decision by the provincial government, which makes testing mandatory for students who arrived at Mount Allison from outside of Canada and are currently self-isolating, either in residence or off campus.
Hiscock says the province is also strongly recommending all students from outside Atlantic Canada be provided with an opportunity to have COVID testing in Sackville.
In addition to the two-day testing spree happening today and tomorrow, the university is coordinating with Public Health to set up another spree on September 1 and 2, 2020.
Hiscock’s email says that all students eligible for testing in this first spree have been notified by the university’s Wellness Centre. That includes all students from outside the country and students from outside the Atlantic bubble who are living in residence.
Students from outside the Atlantic bubble who are living off campus can register online to get on the list for testing.
Testing for residence students will be done in students’ residence rooms, and testing of International students living off campus will be done at the student’s local accommodation.
