On today’s show, Progressive Conservative candidate Bruce Phinney is playing catch-up getting his campaign up and running this election season, and he drops by CHMA to talk about that, and the PC party platform. “I finally got recognized as a candidate later than everybody else,” says Phinney, “and so it’s been sort of like catch up, trying to turn around and put things into place… I’m dealing with it the best way I can, and getting out, talking to people and meeting people and getting their support.”

Phinney also talks about his alignment with PC incumbent premier Blaine Higgs, who regularly says spending is not the solution to problems in health care and education. “I truly believe that,” says Phinney. “There may be ways of actually being able to make it better than what it is at the present time, and you may not have to spend.”

Plus in today’s news briefs: Mount Allison has been ranked #1 undergraduate university in Canada for the 25th time by Maclean’s magazine; and a new rental housing report recommends rent control and better legal protections for tenants.
