PCs tap longtime councillor Bruce Phinney as candidate for upcoming election

On today’s show, we talk with prospective PC candidate for Tantramar Bruce Phinney. The current Tantramar councillor talks about his meeting with Premier Blaine Higgs, and his decision to run for the Progressive Conservative party in the upcoming provincial election slated for October 21.

Phinney is the fourth candidate to come forward, along with incumbent Memramcook-Tantramar MLA Megan Mitton for the Green Party, former Sackville mayor John Higham for the Liberals, and Port Elgin-based archaeologist Evelyn Godfrey for the NDP.

Plus in briefs, the Wheaton Covered Bridge is still under evaluation after two recent letters from local officials pleading to prioritize its repair, and Amherst town council adds two new police officers to the town’s workforce.
