Join for the Winter Snow Shoe Series on January 18, from 1-3pm. Grab your friends and join the Tantramar Outdoor Club for some great hikes/snowshoes! Meet in the parking lot at the Walker Road trailhead. Excursion on the Ogden Loop side, introducing two new sections of trail that connect with the Porcupine Ridge Trail to form an inner triangle. These new trails will need names so following the walk there will be a naming contest! Bring a snack and maybe a hot drink. Depending on the conditions this could be either a hike or a snowshoe. The Writers’ Open Mic is a free monthly event open to all. Head over to the Bill Johnstone Memorial Park Centre on January 19, from 3-4pm. Come out and read your poems, short stories, comics, novels, essays, twitter posts, stand-up comedy, etc. Or just come to listen. A projector will be set up for those with comics or other images or videos they want to share. Files can be brought on a USB or emailed in advance. Tantramar is proud to once again offer the Trailblazers program, providing children in grades K-4 with an unforgettable outdoor experience. Trailblazers uses Outdoor Education and Recreation to develop leadership skills and an environmental awareness in our young people. We use a variety of activities, like shelter building, fire starting, animal tracking and more, to keep youth engaged with the outdoors while being physically active and developing important skills. Trailblazers begins immediately after school at Salem Elementary School on Mondays to Thursdays until 4:30pm. Students must be picked up behind Salem Elementary promptly at 4:30pm. Trailblazers will also be offered in Dorchester at the Dorchester School on Tuesdays for children ages k-4. Again, pickup will be at 4:30pm. The program will be run outside, regardless of the weather (with extreme exceptions), so we are asking all children to dress for the weather outside. Don’t forget your hats and mittens. Cold hands and heads are an ongoing issue. The kids will get dirty. There will be a maximum of 15 children per group. Register before January 30, 2025. There is No Cost for this…

What better place to enjoy a brisk winter's evening in the amazing Tantramar Outdoor Club snowshoe trails at the top of Walker Road with your family and friends? This guided snowshoe tour of the trail system may take you to places you have never seen before! This event is happening on Feb 8, from 5-7pm! Here are a few things you need to know: 1. Some snowshoes will be available to borrow. Indicate during registration what your needs are. 2.We suggest bringing a headlamp or flashlight with you. Bring a hot drink with you, we will be stopping at the warming hut on the Crooked Tree trail as part of the hike/snowshoe. 4 Make sure you register each individual participant.
