Remote Broadcast (PC) using BUTT and a USB Mic

This setup is for those using Desktop Audio and a USB Mic.

Download and Install VB Cables. This software routes all of your computers system audio to the livestream. Remember to reset this to the default speakers when you’re finished your session or you won’t be able to hear your audio.

Go to Windows >> Settings >> Sound
Set CABLE INPUT as output device
Set CABLE OUTPUT as input device.

Connect USB Mic and be sure it’s functioning.

Download and install BUTT. This is the software that you’ll use both as a mixer for your mix and audio as well as the encoder that feeds your audio to our server.

Go to Settings >> Main >> Server Settings >> ADD
Enter a name (CHMA Livestream, for example).
Type: IceCast
Address: chma.in.airtime.pro
Port: 8001
Password: email station@chmafm.com for most recent password
IceCast mount point: chma_master
IceCastuser: source
Select “Save” when done.


then Settings >> Audio
Primary Audio: Default
Secondary Audio: USB Mic
Streaming
Codec: OGG/Vorbis
Bitrate: 128k

Close Settings

Open Mixer in top left of BUTT window.

Primary = Desktop Audio.
Secondary = USB Mic

*Important* Using the mute function as you would on our console. Always mute your mic when not speaking.
*Important* Increase your mic level using the fader so that the meters are hitting yellow but not red.

When you’re ready to broadcast, just press the play button to the left of the meters.

Go to chma.airtime.pro to test if you’re live. If it reads LiveDJ, then you’re live.

Also note that there’s a 10 sec delay from when you start and when it comes through the broadcast live.

Remember to change your audio settings back to their defaults after your session.
