The Isthmus of Chignecto, a narrow strip of land that links mainland Nova Scotia to New Brunswick, is today a quiet landscape of salt marshes and rivers. Parks Canada’s exhibit, “Revealing Chignecto: The Stories Within,” looks deeply at the history of this region and focuses on its archaeology: vestiges that represent millennia of Mi’kmaw communities, Acadian villages, and 18th-century forts. Memories live here, across Chignecto’s lands and waters. The exhibit is on display at the Visitor Information Centre in Tantramar (34 Mallard Drive) until January 25, 2024, open Monday to Saturday 9am-5pm until the end of December. Please call (506) 364-4967 for more information.
January 30th.
