Sackville Commons gives up buildilng, but Farmers Market will continue at 18 Lorne through winter

The Sackville Commons Co-op is giving up its lease on the building at 18 Lorne Street in Sackville.

The Commons leased the building from Lafford Realty, and operated an event space used by a variety of community groups including the Rotary Club, the Sackville Farmers Market, the East Coast Kyokushin Karate dojo and all-ages concert producers, Must Be Nice.

The Sackville Farmers Market will remain at 18 Lorne every Saturday throughout the winter, and rent directly from Lafford Realty, according to market president, Anthony Maddalena.

John Lafford says he did not ask the Sackville Commons to leave the building, and does not have any immediate plans for the space or the building.  Lafford says he agreed to release the Commons from their lease early, and offered to continue regular rental arrangements with community groups.  But the landlord says he is not set up to deal with one-off or short term rentals.

East Coast Kyokushin Karate has announced that it will move to a location in Memramcook, and the Rotary Club will continue at 18 Lorne for the time being.  CHMA has reached out to other community groups to find out their plans.

We have also reached out to Eric Tusz-King and Steve Lambke, directors of the Sackville Commons Co-op, who said last week they “don’t have anything to share at this time.”
