An investigation into complaints about high-powered lasers aimed at airplanes led to two search warrants and two arrests last week in Upper Sackville.

Police say they received several complaints of high-powered lasers aimed at airplanes in the area dating to December 2020, and after an investigation identified a home of interest on Upper Aboujagane Road.

Upper Aboujagane Road meets Pond Shore Road just outside Sackville town limits.

According to a news release, police observed drugs in plain sight when executing a search warrant on Wednesday April 28, and so returned the next day with a second search warrant.

During the two searches, police seized a high-powered laser, a drone with drugs and money hidden inside, and a replica gun. Police also seized significant quantities of what is believed to be crack cocaine, crystal methamphetamine, hydromorphone pills and other prescriptions pills.

Police arrested two people from Upper Sackville, a 36-year-old man and a 37-year-old-woman, at the scene. They were later released and are scheduled to appear in Moncton Provincial Court on September 3.
