Tonight is Moonlight Madness in downtown Sackville, which includes fireworks starting around 6pm behind Town Hall, as well as wagon rides, and additional vendors on the streets.
And just in time to be part of the festivities, a new shop has opened on Bridge Street. Or rather, a reincarnated shop.
Mary Ann Oster worked for five years at the Snack Shop on York Street, and when owners Mike and Dawn decided to close in October, Mary Ann decided to take the plunge and go into business for herself.
Oster’s new version, the Bridge Street Snack Shop, opened on Thursday in the space formerly occupied by The Vapour Trail, and before that, the beloved Thunder and Lightning Pub.
Oster says she took over the space in October, and has been renovating since then. The menu at the new Snack Shop will be similar to the old one, and Oster’s new staff is also mostly from the former shop. “There will be quite a few of them still here,“ says Oster. “A lot of familiar faces.”
The first day of business went well, says Oster, and she’s looking forward to seeing what Moonlight Madness might bring her way, though she didn’t have specials in mind for the event, yet. “We’ve been pretty busy trying to get opening day started,” says Oster. “So who knows? Maybe it’ll happen Friday morning.”
