For the first time since December 18th, New Brunswick reported no new cases of COVID 19, province-wide. The total active case count in the province dropped to 75 on Tuesday.
In Zone 1, there are just 6 active cases of COVID-19 remaining.
In a provincial news release, Chief Medical Officer of Health Jennifer Russell took the opportunity to remind New Brunswickers to get tested if they have any COVID-19 symptoms. Anyone with two or more symptoms should request a test, and self-isolate until they get results. Anyone with even one symptom can request a test without isolating.
There were 909 tests completed in the province on Monday.
AROUND THE ATLANTIC PROVINCES
Newfoundland and Labrador announced 15 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 yesterday, but the province’s active case count still dropped to 372, due to recoveries.
In Nova Scotia, three new cases were announced, with one related to travel, one related to a previous travel case, and one still under investigation. The total number of active cases in the province is now 20. Nova Scotia also announced three more previously reported cases were caused by the B117 variant. That brings Nova Scotia’s total for B117 cases to six, on par with New Brunswick.
Over in PEI, there is only one active case of COVID-19 remaining on the island, but the province is still working on its strategy to keep the virus from arriving. PEI is piloting a rapid testing program at the Charlottetown airport to help screen travellers. Travellers will get both the rapid, point of care test, and the swab for later lab analysis of results.
