On today’s show, we talk with Andy MacGregor, a Port Elgin resident who has put his name forward for a vacant seat on the Strait Shores municipal council. MacGregor talks about the issues he’s hoping to bring forward, such as speeding issues in Port Elgin, road conditions throughout the region, and municipal action on tourism development in the municipality, which includes Port Elgin, Cape Tormentine, and Murray Corner. MacGregor also talks about beefing up the discussion of municipal issues around the council table.
(MacGregor is one of three candidates in the Strait Shores by-election on Monday, December 9. Tomorrow we’ll bring you a feature on another candidate, former Port Elgin councillor Terry Legere.)
Plus in local news briefs, the Vogue Cinema has been sold to the owners of the former Mel’s Tea Room and the Wood Block on Bridge Street; and the destruction of a sculpture in downtown Sackville happened over at least two separate incidents, according to the RCMP.
