Struts Gallery reflects on a year of lockdown

Sackville newcomers Dave Dyment and Roula Partheniou have tag-teamed the director position for Struts Gallery and Faucet Media Centre.

They were handed the keys to the bright yellow gallery space on the now infamous March 13th, 2020.

The keys were used to immediately lock the doors for COVID-19 lockdown.

Dave Dyment, co-director, says he and Partheniou considered Struts to be a “well-oiled machine.”

They did not anticipate nearly all of the artist run center’s programming being impossible during a global pandemic.

Instead of artist residencies, summer barbeques, the Handmade assembly, Sweetest Little Thing, and exhibitions, Dyment and Partheniou had to come up with some new ways for Struts to engage with the local art community.

Here is co-director Dyment in conversation with Meg Cunningham:

Dyment and Partheniou are new to the area, and are enjoying it so far.

Struts is reworking its website at the moment, but stay tuned for updates on their social media.

Expect to see some variation of Sweetest Little Thing this Valentine’s Day.
