On today’s show, in light of the Mayor’s Roundtable on Housing sessions happening today and Saturday at the Tantramar municipal office, we revisit a story from this past summer about how the town of Sussex secured $3.2 million dollars in federal funding through the Housing Accelerator Fund, which is now closed to new applications.
Local groups have been asking Tantramar to pursue similar funding. “We understand that infrastructure funding dedicated specifically toward affordable housing is not being accessed by Tantramar,” housing advocate Natalie Donaher told council in July. “We ask you to please apply for the available funding as soon as possible, before it is all spent or the funding is otherwise cancelled.”
