Tantramar council can choose whether suspension is included in code of conduct sanctions

On today’s show: A spokesperson for the Department of Local Government says Tantramar council is not required to include outright suspension on a list of possible sanctions in its code of conduct bylaw. On Tuesday, council is expected to consider second reading of a new bylaw that includes the option to suspend councillors from all powers and duties, and some councillors have expressed concerns about the inclusion of the more severe sanction.
