On today’s show, we listen in as Tantramar council hears about the proposed 2025 capital budget, which includes $450,000 for a new 5-ton snow plow, about $200,000 for work on the Tantramar Veterans Memorial Civic Centre, $200,000 for fire department gear, and allocations for a new baseball field building, dog park, and Bill Johnstone park playground replacement. Treasurer Michael Beal told councillors that the $2 million capital budget covers only about 40% of what staff have suggested is needed in the municipality.
Plus, two public hearings slated for Monday will give residents an opportunity to weigh in on a rezoning of a Fairfield Road property for the Freshwinds Eco-village Housing Cooperative, and an increase to the height limits for downtown buildings, requested by John Lafford and Mike Wilson.
And the Southeast Regional Service Commission wants residents to fill out a survey on tourism in the region as it tries to come up with a 3-5 year plan to support tourism development.
