The Government of New Brunswick released official guidelines for Halloween celebration on October 13th.

The guidelines are different depending on the zone.

Zones 1 and 5 are currently orange, while the rest of the province remains yellow.

The province has not given a specific timeline concerning Zones 1 and 5 returning to yellow, but Dr. Russell says the 14 day isolation period of those potentially exposed to the virus are crucial in determining whether the outbreak is contained.

If Zones 1 (Moncton) and 5 (Campbellton) remain Orange, trick-or-treating will not be permitted in those zones this Halloween.

Orange zones may participate in outdoor Halloween activities, as long as all Public Health protocols are followed.

This includes keeping a record of all participants for contact tracing, physical distancing, and mask-wearing if participants are not bubbled together.

Celebrations between two household bubbles and informal caregivers or immediate family are allowed.

We need New Brunswickers to to follow the guidelines that we have set out for the Orange phase. We’re offering different suggestions and creative ways to celebrate Halloween.

Dr. Jennifer Russell

The announcement recommends organizing a costume parade for children that people can watch from their porches or driveways.

Anyone participating in a costume parade will need a face mask.
