COVID update
New Brunswick Public health announced 22 new cases of COVID-19 in the province yesterday, the lowest new daily case count since early September. The low number was matched in Zone 1, where only 4 new cases were reported. However, across the border in Cumberland County, cases numbers are starting to rise. Nova Scotia Public health reported 13 new cases in the Cumberland Health Network on Monday, bringing the total active case count to 30 for Cumberland.
Aulac potential exposure
New Brunswick public health has listed a potential public exposure at the Aulac Big Stop for a one hour period on Saturday, October 23, from 12:30pm-1:30pm. Other potential public exposure sites are listed daily on gnb.ca, including dozens in the Moncton area. Public health advises that if you have been vaccinated and visited a potential public exposure site, you simply need to monitor for symptoms. If you are not vaccinated, public health recommends booking a test online or via 811.
Rapid test kits available today in Sackville
Rapid test kits are available today from a mobile Horizon Health Network unit parked at the Tantramar Veterans Memorial Civic Centre starting at 10am. Kits will be handed out until 2:30pm or until supplies run out. The Horizon van will be in Port Elgin on Wednesday, and will return to weekly to distribute free rapid test kits.
Vaccination clinic tomorrow at Sackville Visitor Information Centre
The Vitalité health network is operating a vaccination clinic at the Sackville Visitor Information Centre on Wednesday, October 27, from 9am to 5pm. The clinic will offer pre-booked and drop-in appointments for both the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines. In addition, the Corner Drug Store continues to offer both scheduled appointments and drop in days.

Roundtable applies climate lens to capital budget
Member of the mayors roundtable on climate change presented to Sackville town council last night with their input on the proposed capital budget for the town, and suggestions to make the budget more climate friendly. The roundtable is suggesting the town formalize it’s commitment to electric or hybrid replacement vehicles in its fleet, and also that all town staff participate in half day training sessions on the climate crisis. Tantramar Broadsides launch today
Today marks the launch of the Tantramar Broadsides project. Six local poets contributed poems for the project, and The Hardscrabble Press has printed them on letterpress broadsides. In an online launch event tonight at 7:30pm, poets Amy Ward, Geordie Miller, Kayla Geitzler, Keagan Hawthorne, Marilyn Lerch, and Shoshanna Wingate will read from their broadside and other poems. There will also be a Q&A with the poets. Participants need to register for the online event.
