Twenty active cases of COVID-19 in the Maritimes

It was a bad weekend for COVID-19 in the Maritimes. From Friday to Sunday, six new cases were reported in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia, and one more person has died from the disease.

On Friday, someone in the 20’s in the Bathurst zone was reported sick. The case is related to international travel and the person is self isolating.

Someone in their 50s in the Fredericton zone was diagnosed Friday, in a case related to travel and previous cases. All close contacts of this cases were already self-isolating.

On Sunday, a new travel-related case was reported in the Fredericton zone, not connected to previous cases

This leaves New Brunswick with 9 active cases of the disease. Five of those are in the Moncton region, three in the Fredericton region, and one in the Bathurst region.

Nova Scotia has reported one more death related to COVID-19.

A man in his eighties died with the disease in the Northern Zone, which includes Cumberland, Colchester, Pictou, and East Hants. His case is related to a previous case of a traveller coming from outside the Atlantic bubble.
He was not a resident of a long-term care home.

Over the weekend Nova Scotia also announced three new cases of COVID-19, two in the Northern zone, and one in the Central zone which includes Halifax. The cases are still under investigation but believed to be linked to previous cases.

PEI hasn’t reported any new cases since last week.

The Maritimes now have twenty active cases of COVID-19, nine in New Brunswick, seven in Nova Scotia, and four in PEI.
