Two more residents have died at the Drew Nursing Home since Wednesday afternoon. A memo sent to family members this afternoon from Executive Director Linda Shannon says that a total of five people have now passed away from COVID-19 since the outbreak in the home was discovered on September 13.
Shannon says that all residents and staff were tested on Tuesday, and six new cases have been diagnosed, four in residents, and two in staff. There have been a total of 37 positive cases of COVID-19 at the Drew so far, 28 in residents, and 9 in staff.
Another round of testing is taking place today, and Shannon says results of testing are normally received within 48 to 72 hours.
The memo says Red Cross employees and social workers are in place to help support residents, and efforts are being made to connect with families through video chat and telephone.
Organized window visits are not being scheduled, but family members are welcome to approach windows to see or wave at their loved one, says Shannon in the memo.
She also says that staff and residents are, “thankful for the support, kindness, and prayers of our many community members who have reached out to us.”
