Another person has died with COVID-19 in New Brunswick.
Public Health confirmed that a person in their 70s died today in Zone 5, the Campbellton region, as a result of underlying complications, including COVID-19.
The province issued a press release with messages of condolence from Premier Blaine Higgs and Chief Medical Officer of Health Jennifer Russell.
This is the third COVID-related death in the Campbellton region, and the fourth in the province.
SIX NEW CASES
Public Health also reported six new cases of COVID-19 today, all in Zone 5. One person under 19, one person in their 30s, two people in the 40s, one in the 50s and one in their 60s have been diagnosed with the disease.
All are self-isolating and under investigation.
The number of active cases in New Brunswick is now 92. There are five people in hospital, with one in intensive care.
SECOND CASE IN HIGH SCHOOL
The school community of Dalhousie Regional High School was notified Tuesday of a second confirmed positive COVID-19 case at the school. This case has no connection with the previously identified case, according to a provincial news release.
The release also states that “no student-to-student transmission of COVID-19 has been recorded in any New Brunswick school to date.”
EXPECTED CHANGES TO RESTRICTIONS COMING FOR SOUTHEAST
Earlier this week, Russell said that a decision on returning Zone 1 (which includes Sackville and Tantramar) to the yellow phase of public health restrictions would take place Thursday morning.
An announcement on the potential change is expected by the afternoon.
