Just over 300 students have come through the Mount Allison Welcome Centre at the Tantramar Civic Centre as of Monday night, according to the university.

Of those, 141 are currently self-isolating in residence. They are being asked to wear colour-coded bracelets to help staff control access to residence buildings.

Self-isolating residence students will have limited, supervised access to the outdoors during their isolation. Set times and spaces have been assigned to each residence.

Another 160 students who checked in at the Welcome Centre over the weekend did not need to self-isolate.

All students were issued bright green bracelets when they checked in to allow them access to campus services.

It’s expected that Sackville will see the arrival of off campus students who are required to isolate this weekend or early next week. Classes begin on September 7th, so the latest a person can arrive and complete 14 days of self isolation would be August 25th.

Mount Allison will be asking for proof of completed self-isolation when students from outside the Atlantic Bubble arrive at the Welcome Centre.

The university website says students must present proof of entry into the province and dated hotel or accommodation receipts, though it will accept a self-isolation plan or online banking statements if printed receipts are not available.

The university is providing virtual programming for students self-isolating on or off campus.

CHMA is broadcasting a radio show and podcast by the university’s Orientation team titled, Together, Wherever!, which airs Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays at 8pm throughout August.
